A PRODUCTION COMPANY MAKING FILMS IN THE UK AND THE CARIBBEAN
RIPOSTE PICTURES, based in Kentish Town, London, was founded by Karen Martinez and Andy Lambert.
We make documentaries, drama and comedy. We are keen on all things Caribbean – but there's plenty of other stuff we are into too.
KAREN MARTINEZ is a dual-national, Trinidad & Tobago/UK, writer-director. She has made documentaries for Channel 4, The Arts Council, The Trinidad Film Company and others. She wrote and directed her first drama After Mas set in Port-of-Spain which won Best Short Award at the Trinidad & Tobago Film Festival 2013. She made Dreams in Transit a lyrical documentary-essay about identity, migration and 'home' which won the Caribbean Spirit Award at The Caribbean Tales Festival in Toronto. Most recently she completed a new short fiction film called Trinidad Remains. She is currently in development with Scattered, her first feature-length film, a road movie across Trinidad. The screenplay was awarded development money by the BFI and Natasha Dack-Ojumu of Tigerlily Productions is attached as a producer.
ANDY LAMBERT, has made documentaries (eg. Live From Britain) and dramas (eg. More is Less, The Accidental Conspiracy) for television as well as having over 15 years experience directing TV commercials for clients such as Nike, Nokia, Guinness, Honda, Coca-Cola and many others. Check out his showreel here. He is also the creator The MUTE Series, video snacks served dry. Andy has two feature films in development, The Road Taken, a cycling-based thriller, and Lost For Words, a dialogue-free feature that is very much in the spirit of The MUTE Series.
